Lazuli: A Journey Across Musical Boundaries

The band Lazuli hails from the south of France and was founded by brothers Claude and Dominique Leonetti. Their music is a captivating blend of progressive rock, world music, chanson, and folk, transcending musical boundaries.

With a lineup featuring marimba, French horn, drums, percussion, guitars, and vocals, alongside a unique instrument called the Léode, developed by Claude Leonetti, Lazuli creates a soundscape that is both captivating and original.

Particularly noteworthy is the Léode, an instrument that Claude Leonetti developed after a severe motorcycle accident in which he lost his left arm. The Léode is a type of electronic lap steel guitar that produces a unique and versatile sound, adding an extra dimension to Lazuli's music.

Lazuli has earned an excellent reputation through their energetic live shows and intricate studio albums. The band has performed at prestigious festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Festival International de Musiques Universitaires in Belfort. They have opened for bands like Riverside and Fish, and even collaborated with Fish on his Return-to-Childhood tour.
